Stardock announced on Tuesday morning the completion of its long-awaited sequel, Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords (preview). The developers announced they had completed work last Friday and were now prepping the game for retail and digital release. This 4X, turn-based space game has players exploring and colonizing vast stretches of space in an effort to become the dominant race. This can be accomplished via economic and trading agreements, the researching of new technologies, diplomacy, and outright force. In addition to the standard-priced $40 game copy, Stardock will also be publishing a special collector's edition. This special edition will include a "limited-run foil box and includes a foldout tech-tree poster, additional in-game ship components and an exclusive Galactic Civilizations II theme." Both versions of the game can be pre-ordered from the game's website. Otherwise, Galactic Civilizations II should be available on store shelves beginning February 21st.
